Nintendo’s Wii Play - What is this Game Coming to the Wii on 2/12/07

Wii play for the Nintendo Wii is a collection of 9 mini games that is to be released on 2/12/07. There are a few highlights to this game and I believe it will sell very well amoungst the growing popular titles. The kicker with this mini game collection is that it costs the regular $50, but it includes a $40 Wii-mote for free. You are really getting a $40 dollar wii-mote with a $10 game and with a total of 9 mini games, that makes it just over $1 per game, a screaming deal. Most Wii owners will be picking up extra Wii-motes for the future release of Mario Party 8 anyways, so this is a huge benefit.

Another great feature with this title is that Nintendo has incorporated your fashionable, customized Mii characters as players in the mini-games. I know my kids love making Mii characters and being able to play them in something other than Wii sports is going to be very cool. Also, the games in the collection will be both single player and two player games.

The mini-games to be included in the package are:

A shooting Range (from the images i have seen this game looks similar to Duck Hunt)
Table Tennis
Laser Hockey
Billiards
Fishing
Charge (this has to be the cow racing game as shown in the recent edition of Nintendo Power)
Tanks
Find Mii (I would assume that this is like Where’s Waldo, but for your Mii Character)
Pose Mii

You can see some screen shots here on Ign’s site.

    Nintendo’s New Wii Play…

A bundle of games and a wiimote for $50. How can you go wrong?…

Wii Play is available since Launch her in Europe. I bought it because i wanted a second wiimote and paying 5€ extra for a game looked like a good deal.
After playing the games a few times i must say, 5€ was a good deal. But nothing more. Some games might be fun for a short while, but all in all its like the sports games. They all feel like something whose only purpose is showing what could be done with the wiimote.
    So another cheap Techdemo Disk.

This is already out in New Zealand. Got this at the time that I got the Wii. It has the games, and they are really there to help you figure out how to use the Wii-mote.

The Table Tennis is hard, The Find mii lame :)

The first game to play is the shooting range.. Fun. Starts with shooting balloons, then at the end, UFO’s….

Second game is the Find Mii. It is a fine 2 similar Mii’s or the odd ones out.

Third is Pose Mii. Here you rotate the Wii-mote and place your Mii in a bubble to pop it.

Then Laser Hockey (I might be getting a bit out of track here). Good game.

Table Tennis is here, or just before the Laser Hockey….

Then Billiards (snooker). This is a good game to play. Very well done.

    Fishing is ok,

Charge is a lot of fun, esp for the people watching.. Making your cow run through scarecrows, is always funny to watch, or hitting the trees.

Last is a the Tanks. This is hard, but fun. Here you have to shoot computer tanks, and you can shoot yourself. The bullets bounce once, so that makes some of the attacks interesting.

    Enjoy.

This game was released back in December together with the Wii Launch in Europe; it’s fun for a while… but gets repetitive quickly.

what the hell, I bought this in the Netherlands (where I live) back in december.

Why this is getting released in 2007 for America whilst being already released to the rest of the world, including us Australians is beyond me.

Sadly, as fun as these minigames are, there is no way to customize the minigames in anyway. So it gets really boring after a short while. Especially when you want the tank game to last more than 3 minutes.

We have had Wii Play from launch in the UK. None of the games have the quality of Wii Sports. They are all less intuitive. I liked the billiards and charge but I have played better racing/pool games on my mobile phone.

    Sorry to dissapoint

Still for $10 more than a controller you might as well I guess…

we have had this in the UK since launch, seems odd that it was not available in the states.

That is so lame that its already been released in other countries. If it was already done in english then why do we have to wait. Maybe the north american version will have something different. I’m going to go rag on Nintendo.

Thanks for all of your comments, I sincerely appreciate them.

i think we can wait a lil for it!!! ^_^

  16. MSL on January 7th, 2007

I agree. Though I’m still waiting for my Wii!! ^_^’

I imagine this game is a lot more fun with more people, since it seems more like a multiplayer game than anything else…

My kids are so disappointed as their Dad got them a Wii in Singapore for Xmas, bought it back to France and all the family bought them various games NONE OF WHICH THEY CAN PLAY. Different system, is there anything I can do about this.
    Thanks
