Nintendo Wii – Internet Channel Bang or Bust?

Like most Wii owners, I ran home after work on the 22nd to update and install the new release of the beta version of the opera browser for my Wii. At a first glance I was not impressed with look of the browser and other websites I visited, this is primarily due to not having high definition cables hooked up. Some websites I had trouble accessing, one of my wife’s favorite sites is pogo.com powered by EA and our Wii would not let us access any games from pogo, which partially defeats the purpose of having web browser.
Now here is the million dollar question: If you have WiFi already (needed to use the Wii browser), you most likely have a computer (with a keyboard) to access the internet, why would you use your Wii to browse the internet? The onscreen keyboard is a joke and takes way too much time to enter in a URL, sending an email or making a forum post would just be a complete waste of time. Ding, Ding, a wireless keyboard for your Wii yet another marketable product that Nintendo can put their name on and sell to the masses, why? What is the point? Unless they create some super special features to entice owners to use the Wii for internet purposes, go ahead and use your computer to browse/access the internet. You will save yourself some time. The internet channel gets a solid, thumbs down from me.
