Space Adventure for Children Promotes Early Learning Through Stimulating and Fun Mini-Games

LONDON, UK –15th January, 2007 – Today Ubisoft, one of the world’s largest video game publishers, announced that Cosmic Family™, an exciting space adventure geared toward young children for the Wii™ and developed by Ubisoft’s Barcelona studio, will launch worldwide in mid-2007. By simply pointing their Wii Remote™, players will embark on an interactive tour of the Cosmic Family’s action-packed rocket.

“Cosmic Family is a great title for young Wii players and their families, with simple point-and-click controls that will be easy to learn and provide the freedom to navigate wherever players choose to go,” said John Parkes, EMEA Marketing Director at Ubisoft, “Families will enjoy playing this game together, as it unfolds more like an interactive adventure than a traditional video game”.

Players will have a chance to interact with the Cosmic Family, where they will meet Mom and Dad Cosmic, Big Sister, the two small children, the aloof dog, the lazy cat, and plenty of colorful monsters. With 15 early-learning mini-games found throughout the five floors of the rocket-house, families can pilot a rocket into space, discover what the stars are hiding, create and color whimsical images, customize rooms, brush a monster’s teeth, play dress-up with various characters, nurture plants from seeds and more. This fun, original and colorful game is designed to improve children’s memory, hand-eye coordination, creativity and imagination.

Coming Soon to the Wii - The Mad Catz System Stacker

madcatz.gif

This new accessory is not yet available for the Nintendo Wii, but is coming soon from Mad Catz for a reasonable price of $19.99. This system stacker will clean up your Wii area by providing a place holder for games, controllers and other soon to come accessories. The dimensions of the system stacker are 17″ wide by 11″ deep. They do not list the height of the stacker, but from the image it appears to me to be about as high as 4 to 5 dvd/game cases. This stacker is designed to let your Wii “float” horizontally and provides proper ventillation to avoid possible overheating of your console. You can also put other audio / video components either below or on top of the system stacker because it is made out of “durable reinforced plastic”. It also has one side open so you can easily access your Gamecube controller ports as well as your memory card slots.

Nintendo’s Wii Play - What is this Game Coming to the Wii on 2/12/07

Wii play for the Nintendo Wii is a collection of 9 mini games that is to be released on 2/12/07. There are a few highlights to this game and I believe it will sell very well amoungst the growing popular titles. The kicker with this mini game collection is that it costs the regular $50, but it includes a $40 Wii-mote for free. You are really getting a $40 dollar wii-mote with a $10 game and with a total of 9 mini games, that makes it just over $1 per game, a screaming deal. Most Wii owners will be picking up extra Wii-motes for the future release of Mario Party 8 anyways, so this is a huge benefit.

Another great feature with this title is that Nintendo has incorporated your fashionable, customized Mii characters as players in the mini-games. I know my kids love making Mii characters and being able to play them in something other than Wii sports is going to be very cool. Also, the games in the collection will be both single player and two player games.

The mini-games to be included in the package are:

A shooting Range (from the images i have seen this game looks similar to Duck Hunt)
Table Tennis
Laser Hockey
Billiards
Fishing
Charge (this has to be the cow racing game as shown in the recent edition of Nintendo Power)
Tanks
Find Mii (I would assume that this is like Where’s Waldo, but for your Mii Character)
Pose Mii
